Soccer: Genoa sack De Canio after Roma debacle

Genoa, October 22 - Genoa have sacked coach Luigi De Canio after Sunday's 4-2 home defeat to AS Roma and started talks with former Juventus boss Luigi Delneri, Chairman Enrico Preziosi told ANSA on Monday. Sunday's defeat was crushing for Genoa fans as they saw their side blow a two-goal lead. Genoa are currently 10th in Serie A with nine points from eight games, although they have not won any of their last four matches. The much-travelled De Canio took over at Italy's oldest club at the end of last season when they were threatened with regelation and managed to keep them in the top flight.
