Lublin, Poland, October 22 - An election in the Lazio region is unlikely before year's end, former regional governor Renata Polverini said Monday. "To vote later this year? I have said on other occasions that I felt it quite unlikely," due to regional regulations, she said during a visit to Poland. Polverini, a member of ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's People of Freedom (PdL) party, resigned last month after the PdL caucus leader in the regional assembly, Franco Fiorito, was arrested for alleged embezzlement. This year has seen scandals involving the alleged misuse of public funds in several regions including Lazio, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Campania, Molise, Calabria and Sicily.
