Iraq promises Italian business foreign investment secure

(ANSA) - Rome, October 18 - Iraq's government is committed to "ensuring the safety of foreign investment," Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said Thursday. During meetings in Rome with his Italian counterpart, Zebari tried to assure Italian companies considering operations in Iraq that terrorist attacks are "limited" and should not affect business. Zebari met with business leaders and government officials during the third meeting of the Italy-Iraq Committee. Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi spoke of the importance of Iraq to regional security: "Iraqi stability and the consolidation of its democratic institutions are crucial to our national interests and match the broader peace and security interests of the Mediterranean as a whole".
