Santapaola boss responsible for 'internal cleansing'

Mafia lifer orders execution of man for flirting with wife

(ANSA) - Catania, October 17 - Police believe after taking testimonies from arrested Mafia members that an imprisoned clan boss is responsible for ordering the murder of a man in March 2005 for flirting with his wife. Sebastiano Paratore, a member of the Santapaola clan, reportedly made advances at Mafia boss Carmelo Puglisi's wife during his visits to give the family Puglisi's 'salary'. Puglisi, serving a life sentence following his 2009 arrest, planted men in his home to watch Paratore, police believe. In 2005, Puglisi allegedly ordered an 'internal cleansing' and ordered 41-year-old clan member Orazio Magri to kill Paratore and dispose of his body. Paratore's partially carbonized body was found later that year near the Sicilian city of Acicatena.
