Lombardy to have 'technocrat' executive until elections

(ANSA) - Milan, October 16 - Besieged Lombardy governor Roberto Formigoni said on Tuesday that a non-political technocrat executive will be in charge of the region until elections after his administration collapsed because of corruption scandals. "This week I'll create a new executive that will be completely renewed with people from outside the political world," Formigoni told the regional assembly. "This term of the regional assembly has reached its end". He added, however, that it would be necessary to make some changes to the region's electoral law before dissolving the assembly to hold elections.
