Hillary Clinton says Monti govt has made 'great progress'

(ANSA) – Washington, October 12 – Italian Premier Mario Monti has made great progress since his appointment in November last year, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said after meeting with Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi in Washington. "Italy and the United States are working together on the front of economic resources," Clinton said. "We encourage the current leadership and urge them to carry on, as we are seeing signs of great progress". Clinton also thanked Italy for "the great sacrifices on the part of the Italian soldiers in Afghanistan", adding that the nation was the "fourth largest contributor to ISAF".
