(ANSA) - Venice, October 5 - Chemicals firm Vinyls may pay employees' backdated salaries ''within days'' after the workers staged a headline-grabbing protest in Venice's Saint Mark's Square, Mayor Giorgio Orsoni told ANSA on Friday. Orsoni said Vinyls' court-appointed trustees may soon be in a position to release the necessary funds. He was responding to recent worker protests over unpaid salaries. On Thursday, four Vinyls employees climbed the bell tower in Saint Mark's Square to protest the unpaid salaries. One employee, Nicoletta Zago, told ANSA by telephone that she had not been paid for five months by the company located in nearby Porto Marghera.
