Police use DNA to catch thieves from hundreds of robberies

(ANSA) - Reggio Emilia, October 4 - Police used DNA to track down two thieves believed to be part of a gang responsible for hundreds of burglaries. Two Moldovans, aged 23 and 27, are said to be behind the string of thefts that began in 2008, many of which occurred in Italy's Emilia-Romagna region. Police used DNA taken from cigarette butts and a ski mask found in a stolen car. During their investigations police also recovered stolen property, including cars, vans, and computers worth a total of more than 200,000 euros.
