Mazara del Vallo
(ANSA) - Mazara del Vallo, October 4 - An Italian trawler was impounded by Egyptian authorities Wednesday night. The trawler is from the large western Sicilian port of Mazara del Vallo, whose fleet are often involved in territorial-water rows with North African countries. Sicilian regional parliament member Toni Scilla said the head of the Italian fishing federation Federpesca, Luigi Giannini, had contacted Italy's vice-ambassador in Egypt about the case of the trawler in Egypt, the Artemide. The diplomat, Andrea Orizio, "assured prompt intervention to avert delays and other problems (in getting the trawler released)," Scilla said.
