Minors arrested for drug pushing, extortion in Italy

(ANSA) - Manfredonia, October 3 - Four minors were arrested Wednesday on charges of drug possession and trafficking, as well as extortion involving other children. The minors were arrested early Wednesday, accused of selling drugs and bullying other youngsters into doing their bidding in Manfredonia, a town on the southeastern coast of Italy. Police used wiretaps in their investigation that began in February after a boy who had left the community claimed he had been beaten, threatened and forced to hand over money by a gang of boys selling hash. Police found that another victim had been forced to allow the gang to use his family's garage to hide their drugs. In some cases, the gang threatened the parents and other family members of victims.
