Soccer: Pulga takes over at Cagliari after Ficcadenti fired

(ANSA) - Cagliari, October 3 - Serie A's bottom side Cagliari have been put in the hands of Ivo Pulga after the winless club sacked coach Massimo Ficcadenti. The Sardinian outfit denied reports that youth-team coach Diego Lopez had taken charge, saying he will be Pulga's assistant. Lopez does not have a licence to coach a senior team. Pulga does, although this will be his first stint as the head coach of a senior side. It is Serie A's third change of coach so far this season. Third-bottom Chievo Verona replaced Domenico Di Carlo with former midfielder Eugenio Corini on Tuesday. Palermo appointed former Inter Milan boss Gian Piero Gasperini after dismissing Giuseppe Sannino two weeks ago. The Sicilians notched their first league win of the season when they thumped Chievo 4-1 on Sunday.
