Soccer: Chievo sack Di Carlo, appoint Corini

(ANSA) - Verona, October 2 - Chievo Verona said on Tuesday that they had sacked coach Domenico Di Carlo and replaced him with Eugenio Corini after the Serie A club made a poor start to the season. Chievo are third from bottom in the Italian top flight after losing five and winning one of their first six games. They were thrashed 4-1 at Palermo on Sunday. Di Carlo kept Chievo in the top flight for two seasons during a stint in charge from 2008 to 2010. He had an unsuccessful spell at Sampdoria in the 2010-11 campaign but returned to Chievo last term and led them to a 10th-placed finish. Corini is a former midfielder who played for Chievo from 1998 until 2003. He was in charge of Frosinone in the third tier last term.
