Pensioners find it hard to reposition after retirement

(ANSA) - Rome, October 1 - Pensioners in Italy have little possibility to reposition themselves in society once retired, social and economic thinktank Censis said in a report released on Monday. Speaking at the Italy Age Platform conference, Censis President Giuseppe De Rita said that pensioners find it more difficult to find activities because of the shrinking work market and increased retirement age. Recent labor reforms introduced by Premier Mario Monti's government have also created obstacles, De Rita said. "What possibilities are there for 67-year-olds retiring?" said De Rita. "In short, the elderly are not in crisis due to age, but because they are not allowed to find their place in society - a situation that has worsened over the last year".
