(ANSA) - Macerata, September 25 - A congenital heart defect was the cause of an arrhythmia that killed former Italy volleyball player Vigor Bovolenta after he collapsed during a fourth-tier game in March, an autopsy has concluded. Bovolenta, 37, was a key part of the Italy team that took silver at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and won the 1995 and 1999 European championships. His death shocked Italian sport and came just a month before former Italy Under-21 soccer international Piermario Morosini died after collapsing while playing for Livorno in a second-tier match against Pescara in April. Morosini was 25.
