Vertical garden in Rozzano breaks Guiness record

(ANSA) - Milan, September 17 - The Guiness world record for the largest vertical garden in the world was awarded to a shopping mall facade in the town of Rozzano, near Milan. The Fiordaliso commercial complex was awarded the much-coveted nod by the long-running records book for its 1,262.85 square meter wall garden composed of over 44,000 plants and 200 flowers. Project creator Francesco Bollani said that the green wall that lines the main facade of the mall is an example of sustainable architecture that "combines beauty and energy savings in an environmentally friendly setting". The previous record, a 75-foot high wall spanning the size of two tennis courts, belongs to a hotel in Madrid, Spain.
