Italy police arrest 14-year-old boy as 'danger to community'

(ANSA) – Milan, September 14 – Law enforcement officers in Milan on Monday arrested a 14-year-old boy who nicknamed himself "the young Vallanzasca" after a notorious Italian 1970s mobster. The judge for preliminary investigations Marilena Chessa said the boy posed "a very high and concrete danger to the community" in the arrest warrant she issued. The young boy lived in the Quarto Oggiaro neighbourhood on the outskirts of Milan. The unidentified boy is charged with a series of crimes that go from the more simple thefts to actual hold ups, all committed in the six months since he has turned 14 and has become responsible for his actions under the law. The boy was arrested in a building in via Voltri and had to be chased down by officers after he had tried to flee by jumping out of a window and a balcony on the third floor of the building. Renato Vallanzasca was a notorious Italian 1970s criminal who terrorized the streets of Milan. He committed robberies, kidnappings, murders, and spent many years living as a fugitive before being caught and sentenced.
