Milan bourse up 2.2%, European markets open briskly

(ANSA) - Milan, September 14 - Milan's stock market opened briskly Friday going up 2.2% in early trading. Reaching 16,605 points, the gain was stoked by the United States Federal Reserve announcing an aggressive move to stimulate the American economy by pledging to buy $40 billion of agency-mortgage debt per month until the unemployment rate improves. Markets opened up across Europe, with Madrid matching Milan's 2.2%. The London bourse gained 1.10%, Paris 1.8% and Frankfurt 1.19%.
