(ANSA) - Rome, September 13 - Stormy autumn weather is causing damage and transportation delays in parts of northern Italy and the southern Amalfi coast near Naples, the national weather service reported on Thursday. Civil protection relief forces were dispatched 30 times on Thursday when Trieste's gale-force wind known as the 'Bora' swept in, driving temperatures down to 10 degrees and flooding parts of the city and surrounding areas. Near the southern Amalfi coast, a 50-meter ferry that connects the island of Capri to the seaside town of Sorrento struck a rock after being blown off course. None of the seven crew members were injured and the ferry was not transporting passengers at the time. The regional Naples-Salerno train line also experienced delays due to torrential rains that washed mud and debris onto the tracks. Sudden heavy rains caused mudslides that filled the streets of the town of Castellammare di Stabia near Naples. City authorities report accumulations of sludge and water of up to 30 centimeters throughout the town's streets and its main square Piazza Monumento.
