Police pick up 31 immigrants on Puglia shore

(ANSA) - Leuca, September 11 - Police picked up 31 immigrants on the southern coast of Puglia near the city of Santa Maria di Leuca on Tuesday. The immigrants, self-identified as Pakistani, told police they had reached the coast on board a vessel driven by smugglers, who left the men on the shore and immediately sped away. Police took the group to the don Tonino Bello center for identification in the city of Otranto.
