(ANSA) - Genoa, September 11 - Prosecutors on Tuesday requested a probe into alleged match-fixing by Italy defender Domenico Criscito and three other former Genoa players be dropped. Criscito, who now plays for Russian champions Zenit Saint Petersburg, was dropped from Italy's preliminary squad for Euro 2012 in May after he was put under investigation for alleged involvement in the fixing of Genoa's derby against Sampdoria in May 2011. He has been in a state of limbo with the Azzurri since. Criscito complained he was being made a scapegoat after being omitted from Cesare Prandelli's Euro 2012 squad. While Criscito missed the tournament in Ukraine and Poland, Juventus centre back Leonardo Bonucci went even though he too was under investigation. Unlike Criscito, Bonucci had not received official notification of a probe.
