Naples investigators impound wharfs, probe 5 individuals

(ANSA) – Naples, September 10 – Italian investigators in the southern city of Naples are probing five individuals for two different episodes of non-authorized management of wharfs located on public land. Investigators working on the Mergellina, Naples wharf case are looking into the roles played by Adolfo Dello Russo, Antonio Siciliano, Gaetano Pollio, Carlo Amato and Agostino Amato. Prosecutors believe that the public wharfs were being managed without authorization by Dello Russo and Siciliano, who didn't have the requirements to carry out activities required by Italian law. The wharfs have been confiscated by prosecutors as part of the investigation. The five are reported to be close to the Piccirillo organized crime group active in the Mergellina area. Agostino Amato made media headlines recently after helping recover a bracelet Italy national team footballer Mario Balotelli lost during a stay in Naples.
