Tuscan town wants mixed cemetery for pets and owners

(ANSA) - Pisa, September 5 - There may be hope for faithful pets and loving owners to stay together forever, even after death if plans move ahead in the northern town of Fauglia near Pisa. A 'mixed' cemetery for animals and their owners has been proposed where dogs, cats and even horses can find their final resting place next to their owners. Fauglia Mayor Carlo Carli told the local newspaper La Nazione that he is "convinced that there are people who wish to have their pets by their side, even after death". "The land is there and ready," the mayor said. The plot of seven acres was donated by a Fauglia citizen, now all that is needed is the project, Carli said.
