(ANSA) - Rome, August 31 - Swiss multinational Glencore has expressed an interest in taking over Alcoa's Portovesme, Sardinia plant, pending clarifications, a statement released by Italy's Ministry for Economic Development said on Friday. Sardinian officials, the Italian ministry and Glencore management met today to discuss a possible sale of the plant. Glencore management wanted to know more about "energy costs and the condition of the infrastructure and the environment," at the plant, the communique said. The Ministry and Sardinian officials made the information available, and Glencore requested another week to examine the possible deal. A second meeting has been set up for September 5, the communique said.
