Monday trading ends on positive note

(ANSA) - Milan, August 27 - Monday's trading closed on a positive note with the main European markets all showing gains with the exception of the London stock exchange, which remained closed for the summer bank holiday in the United Kingdom. The Milan bourse showed a 0.89% increase on its main Ftse Mib, which closed at 15,012 points. Madrid's IBEX index did even better, gaining 1.21% to close at 7,398.90 points. Likewise Frankfurt's Dax index gained 1.10% to close at 7,047.45 points. Paris also fared well, with the Cac 40 index rising by 0.86% to close at 3,462.83 points. The spread between 10-year Italian Btp bonds and the benchmark German bund remained stable throughout the day, closing at 436 basis points and with a yield of 5.71%, up respectively from 433 basis points and a yield of 5.66% at the start of trading. The spread between the 10-year Spanish Bonos and the German Bund also held up, closing at 503 basis points and with a yield of 6.39%.
