Reggio Calabria, May 16 - A group of citizens near the city of Reggio Calabria on Thursday waited with food and clothing for a group of migrants spotted by the Italian coast guard, landing after a long clandestine journey by boat to the shore of the Calabrian town Palizzi. Some 71 migrants who left from the coast of Greece one week ago have been taken to a municipal shelter and are being questioned by authorities. According to police, each passenger paid between 1,500 and 3,000 euros for the journey, in which they were hidden from sight and had no access to food or water.
